St Louis. Acid etched design of poppies. Signed : "d'Argental" . and S L (for
Saint Louis).
Absolutely gorgeous acid etched decor of flowers in several different browns and
greens on a creamy orange tinted background. Superb workmanship!!!
Paul Nicolas, école de Nancy, (1875 - 1952), from 1893 onward pupil and later
chief designer for Emile Gallé. He started working under his own name in 1919,
with the support of Cristallerie de St Louis.
He first signed his pieces 'D'Argental'. Later on he adds his own name,
sometimes with the mention of 'Nancy'.
He received 2 gold medals and several others over the years in the Paris
Expositions!
